Every day, more and more Victorians are upgrading to all electric homes.
All electric homes use electricity instead of gas for heating, cooking and hot water.
Upgrading to an all-electric home can save you thousands on energy bills every year and
reduce carbon emissions.
Here are three key steps to making your home all electric.
Step one, install solar panels.
With solar panels, you can power your electric appliances with free, clean energy from the sun.
If you do not have solar panels yet, installing them is a great first step.
And while you are at it, consider a solar battery to store excess energy generated from your solar panels during the day so that you can use it when you need it, like at night.
Step 2. Upgrade your appliances.
There are three common appliances that you may need to switch from gas to electric.
Your hot water system, your oven and cook top, and your heating.
Start to research, plan and make a budget so you can upgrade your appliances as they reach the end of their lifespan and need replacing to energy efficient electric versions.
Step 3. Switch off gas.
Once you have gone all electric, you can disconnect from the gas network and say goodbye to gas bills forever.
To help you start your all-electric journey, Solar Victoria offers rebates and loans to cut the upfront costs.
