WIN UP TO $8,000 TOWARDS THE COST OF A ROOFTOP SOLAR (PV) SYSTEM OR AN ENERGY-EFFICIENT HOT WATER SYSTEM
Background
- Information on how to enter to win a Prize forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering the Competition, the entrant is deemed to accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Subject to these Terms and Conditions, this Competition is not valid in conjunction with any other offer.
- The Competition promoter is the State of Victoria as represented by Solar Victoria, a portfolio entity of the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), ABN 90 719 052 204, of Level 17, 150 Lonsdale Street Melbourne VIC 3000 (Promotor or Solar Victoria).
- Only one entry to the Competition per person is permitted.
- The Competition commences at 10:00am (AEST) on Friday 19 April and ends at 6:00pm (AEDT) Sunday 21 April 2024. (Competition Period). After the Competition Period, no further entries to the Competition are permitted.
Definitions
- In these Terms and Conditions:
- Additional Rebate means the rebate granted to a Winner following acceptance by Solar Victoria of the Winner’s Additional Rebate Application;
- Additional Rebate Application means an application for a rebate for the installation under the Solar Homes Program submitted to Solar Victoria by the Winner in accordance with these Terms and Conditions;
- Approved Product means a product described as an ‘approved product’ on Solar Victoria’s website at: solar.vic.gov.au/product-lists
- Authorised Retailer means a retailer described as an ‘approved retailer’ on Solar Victoria’s website at, for the Solar Prize: solar.vic.gov.au/find-authorised-retailer; and for the Hot Water Prize: solar.vic.gov.au/hotwater-retailers
- Competition means the competition known as the ‘Solar Victoria Door Prize Sponsorship April Home Show 2024 Competition’;
- Eligible Entrant has the meaning given in clause 7
- Eligible Entry means an entry to the Competition submitted by an Eligible Entrant in accordance with these Terms and Conditions
- Event means the event known as the ‘April Home Show’ at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre during the Competition Period;
- Event Organiser means the Trustee for EEA Unit Trust, trading as Exhibitions & Events Australia, ABN 78 621 416 553;
- Hot Water Prize has the meaning given in clause 8.b;
- Installation means the installation of a rooftop solar (PV), hot water heat pump or solar hot water system (as applicable) chosen by the Eligible Entrant for the purpose of the Prize;
- Prize means a Solar Prize or Hot Water Prize;
- Property means an existing property, valued at under $3 million (based on the entrant’s most recent Council rates notice);
- Renter means a person who rents the entrant’s Property;
- Solar Homes Program means Solar Victoria’s program known as the ‘Solar Homes Program’. For further information, see solar.vic.gov.au/solar-homes-program;
- Solar Prize has the meaning given in clause 8.a;
- Solar Victoria Stand means the stand at the Event known as the ‘Solar Victoria J22 stand’ attended by one or more Solar Victoria representatives; and
- Winner means a winner of a Prize selected in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
Entry and eligibility
- To enter the Competition, an entrant must, during the Competition Period:
- visit the Event;
- register the entrant’s Event ticket, including by entering their contact details, either at the Event or online at melbournehomeshow.com.au/
- take the entrant’s registered Event ticket to the Solar Victoria Stand, scan the QR code and follow the prompts to enter the Competition, which includes answering questions regarding the use of energy in the home;
- confirm the entrant is an Eligible Entrant;
- select a preferred Prize;
- acknowledge acceptance of these Terms and Conditions; and
- agree to be contacted via the contact details used when registering the entrant’s Event ticket.
- To be eligible for the Prize, an entrant must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- the entrant is:
- a Victorian resident; and
- a person aged 18 years or over; and
- not an employee of the Promoter, or a family member of such person, or in any other way associated with the Competition;
- if the entrant selected the Solar Prize, the entrant is the owner of the Property;
- if the entrant selected the Hot Water Prize, the entrant is the owner of the Property and that Property is the entrant’s primary residence;
- the entrant has a combined household taxable income of less than $210,000 per year (based on the entrant’s Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment for the previous year);
- the entrant and the Property’s address have not previously received a rebate for the entrant’s preferred Prize under the Solar Homes Program;
- if the entrant selected the Solar Prize, not have an existing solar PV system installed at the property in the last ten years.
- if the entrant selected the Solar Prize and rents the Property to one or more Renters, the following additional eligibility criteria must be met:
- The Renters have a combined household taxable income of less than $210,000 per year (based on the Renters’ Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessments for one of the previous two years);
- A Solar Homes Rental provider-Renter Agreement is signed by the entrant and all Renters; and
- There is a current rental agreement in place between the entrant and the Renters.
- the entrant is:
The Prize:
- The Prize consists of a contribution of up to $8,000 AUD (inclusive of GST) towards the cost of either:
- a rooftop solar (PV) installation on an Eligible Entrant's Property, using an Authorised Retailer, authorised for solar (PV) installation, and an Approved Product (Solar Prize); Or
- a hot water heat pump or solar hot water system on an Eligible Entrant's Property, using an Authorised Retailer, authorised for hot water installation, and an Approved Product (Hot Water Prize).
- The eligible Winner can also receive the corresponding rebate under the Victorian Government's Solar Homes Program, upon successfully completing their rebate application.
- the Winner must provide all documentation required by Solar Victoria to support the Winner’s Additional Rebate Application; and
- the Winner must use an applicable Authorised Retailer and Approved Products.
- If Solar Victoria accepts the Winner’s Additional Rebate Application, the Additional Rebate will be deducted from the total costs of the Installation in addition to the Prize.
- Each Winner must obtain a quote from a minimum of three Authorised Retailers for their Installation.
- The Prize will be deducted from the total costs of the Installation.
- The Prize funds up to the maximum value of $8,000 inclusive of GST will be paid directly to the eligible Winners chosen authorised retailer.
- Any unused value of Prize or Additional Rebate following the completion of the Installation is forfeited and is not redeemable for cash.
- If the Prize, and any Additional Rebate, do not cover the total costs of the Installation, the entrant will be required to pay the outstanding balance for the Installation.
- The Installation must be completed by 30 June 2025. If for any reason the Installation is not completed by that date, the Prize will be forfeited.
- A Prize is not exchangeable, transferable or redeemable for cash or other Prizes.
- The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any Prize with another of equivalent value and/or specification without giving notice, including if any Prize is unavailable for any reason, subject to applicable laws.

Selection of Winner
- The Competition is a game of chance and one Winner will be chosen at random from all Eligible Entries.
- The Winner will be drawn separately using a computerised random draw at the Solar Victoria office on 150 Lonsdale St Melbourne VIC 3000, or virtually where government restrictions are applicable, before 5pm (AEST), Friday 26 April 2024.
- The Winner will be notified by phone and email on the day of the draw.
- The Winner will be published on Solar Victoria’s website for a minimum period of 28 days.
Unclaimed Prize
- If a Winner cannot be contacted or if they cannot confirm their eligibility for the Prize within 28 days of notification, the Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the Prize from the Winner and select a replacement Winner in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
- A redraw will take place for an unclaimed Prize at Solar Victoria's office at 150 Lonsdale St Melbourne VIC 3000, or virtually if required by applicable government restrictions, 28 days following the first draw. The Winner of an unclaimed Prize will be notified by phone and email by a Solar Victoria representative within two business days of the redraw.
Privacy notice
- By entering this competition, entrant's consent to:
- the Promoter (Solar Victoria) and Home Show to use their first name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a Winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any of The Promoters or Home Show media channels for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this and future promotions.
- having their personal information ("PI") collected in order to conduct the promotion. The Promoter will not disclose entrant's personal information to any entity outside of Australia.
- receiving Solar Victoria's monthly e-newsletter. Entrants can unsubscribe from The Promoter's electronic mailing list at any time.
- If there is a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the Promoter reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to determine the identity of the entrant.
- If any Prize is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a Prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to the relevant authorities.
- The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries, registrations and entrants (including an entrant's identity, age, place of residence and eligibility for the Prize).
- The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry or registration that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, or who tampers with the entry/registration process.
- The Promoter accepts no responsibility for incomplete, indecipherable, incorrectly submitted, delayed, misdirected or illegible submissions and such entries will be deemed invalid.
- The Promoter is not responsible for inaccurate Prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
- The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, civil disturbance or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the Promoter's control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the Promoter.
- No cash alternative to the Prize will be offered. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any Prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
- By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her acceptance and agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
- The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by Australian law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.
- The Promoter is bound by the Information Privacy Principles under the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), and will handle your personal information in accordance with its Privacy Charter. - Competition means the competition known as the ‘Solar Victoria Door Prize Sponsorship August Home Show 2023 Competition’;

- Eligible Entry means an entry to the Competition submitted by an Eligible Entrant in accordance with these Terms and Conditions
- Event means the event known as the ‘August Home Show’ at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre during the Competition Period;

- Solar Prize has the meaning given in clause 8.a;
- Solar Victoria Stand means the stand at the Event known as the ‘Solar Victoria B20 stand’ attended by one or more Solar Victoria representatives; and
- Winner means a winner of a Prize selected in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

- the entrant and the Property’s address have not previously received a rebate for the entrant’s preferred Prize under the Solar Homes Program;
- if the entrant selected the Solar Prize, not have an existing solar PV system, unless that system was installed prior to 1 November 2009; and
- if the entrant selected the Solar Prize and rents the Property to one or more Renters, the following additional eligibility criteria must be met:
- The Renters have a combined household taxable income of less than $210,000 per year (based on the Renters’ Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessments for one of the previous two years);
- A Solar Homes Rental provider-Renter Agreement is signed by the entrant and all Renters; and
- There is a current rental agreement in place between the entrant and the Renters.

Prizes
- Two Eligible Entrants can win one of two Prizes. The Prizes are:
- one solar prize, which consists of a contribution of up to AUD $8,000 towards the cost of a rooftop solar (PV) installation on an Eligible Entrant's Property, using an Authorised Retailer, authorised for solar (PV) installation, and an Approved Product (Solar Prize); and
- one hot water prize, which consists of a contribution of up to AUD $8,000 towards the installation of a hot water heat pump or solar hot water system on an Eligible Entrant's Property, using an Authorised Retailer, authorised for hot water installation, and an Approved Product (Hot Water Prize).
- Each Winner must obtain a quote from a minimum of three Authorised Retailers for their Installation.
- The Prize will be deducted from the total costs of the Installation.
- Any unused value of Prize or Additional Rebate following the completion of the Installation is forfeited and is not redeemable for cash.
- If the Prize, and any Additional Rebate, do not cover the total costs of the Installation, the entrant will be required to pay the outstanding balance for the Installation.
- The Installation must be completed by 1 September 2024. If for any reason the Installation is not completed by that date, the Prize will be forfeited.
- A Prize is not exchangeable, transferable or redeemable for cash or other prizes.

- A Winner may also submit for Solar Victoria’s approval an Additional Rebate Application if that Winner meets the following additional eligibility criteria:
- the Winner must provide all documentation required by Solar Victoria to support the Winner’s Additional Rebate Application; and
- the Winner must use an applicable Authorised Retailer and Approved Products.
- If Solar Victoria accepts the Winner’s Additional Rebate Application, the Additional Rebate will be deducted from the total costs of the Installation in addition to the Prize.

- The Competition is a game of chance and one Winner for each Prize will be chosen at random from all Eligible Entries.
- The Winner of each Prize will be drawn separately using a computerised random draw at Solar Victoria’s office at 150 Lonsdale St Melbourne VIC 3000, or virtually if required by applicable government restrictions, before 5pm (AEST) on Friday 1 September 2023.
- The Winners will be notified by phone and email by a Solar Victoria Representative within two business days of the draw.

- if the entrant is a Winner, the Promoter and Event Organiser using the entrant’s first name, likeness, image and/or voice (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any of the Promoter’s or Event Organiser’s media channels for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting the Promotor or the Event;
- the Promotor collecting the entrant’s personal information for the purpose of the Competition. The Promoter will not disclose an entrant's personal information to any entity outside of Australia; and
- receiving Solar Victoria's monthly e-newsletter. Entrants can unsubscribe from the Promoter's electronic mailing list at any time by clicking the unsubscribe option within Solar Victoria's monthly e-newsletter.
- The Promoter is bound by the Information Privacy Principles under the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).
- The entrant acknowledges and agrees that the Promotor will handle the entrant’s personal information in accordance with the Promotor’s Privacy Charter and Privacy Statement, available on Solar Victoria’s website at solar.vic.gov.au/privacy#privacy-statement, which form part of these Terms and Conditions.
General
- The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries, registrations and entrants (including an entrant's identity, age, place of residence and eligibility for a Prize) in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
- If there is a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the identity of the entrant.
- The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry or registration that does not comply with these Terms and Conditions, or who tampers with the entry or registration process, or who is not otherwise an Eligible Entrant.
- The Promoter’s decision relating to the eligibility of an entrant is final. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
- The Promoter accepts no responsibility for incomplete, indecipherable, incorrectly submitted, delayed, misdirected or illegible entries and such entries will be deemed invalid.
- The Promoter is not responsible for inaccurate information relating to the Competition provided to an entrant by any third party.
- If this Competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter (for example, due to a catastrophe, civil disturbance or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law), the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion and to the fullest extent permitted by law, to disqualify an Eligible Entrant or modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Competition or these Terms and Conditions. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the Promoter.
- Subject to clause 35, each Eligible Entrant releases the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) from all liability (including negligence or breach of these Terms and Conditions), for any personal injury, or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Competition, including, but not limited to: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their location by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in the Prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by an entrant, Eligible Entrant or Winner; or (f) use of the Prize.
- Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer rights under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) ("CCA") or any other legislation which may not be excluded, restricted or modified by agreement. If the CCA or any other legislation implies a condition, warranty or term into the Terms and Conditions or provides statutory guarantees in connection with these Terms and Conditions, in respect of goods and services supplied (if any), the Promoter's liability for breach of such a condition, warranty, other term or guarantee is limited (at the Promoter's election) to the extent it is able to do so: (a) in the case of supply of goods, the Promoter doing any one or more of the following: (i) replacing the goods or supplying equivalent goods (ii) repairing the goods (iii) paying the cost of replacing the goods or of acquiring equivalent goods; and/or (iv) paying the cost of having the goods repaired; or (b) in the case of supply of services, the Promoter doing either or both of the following: (i) supply the services again; and/or (ii) paying the cost of having the services supplied again.
- The Competition and these Terms and Conditions are governed by Victoria law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
Competition: Win up to $8,000 towards a rooftop solar system
- Information on how to enter and the prizes forms part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in the Draw Prize is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
- The Promoter is the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), ABN 90 719 052 204, of registered office address: Level 17, 150 Lonsdale Street Melbourne VIC 3000.
- Employees of the Promoter or their family members or anyone else connected in any way with the competition or helping to set up the competition are not eligible for the competition.
- Entry is open to residents of Victoria only.
- Entries are open to persons aged 18 years and older.
- Only one entry per person is permitted.
- The Draw Prize commences at 9:00am Saturday 25 March and ends at 18:00 Sunday 23 April 2023. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
- To enter the Prize Draw, an entrant must:
- Attend either of the following events:
- Australian Property Expo 2023 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre between Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March 2023
- Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show at the Carlton Gardens between Wednesday 30 March and Sunday 3 April 2023
- Home Show at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre between Friday 21 and Sunday 23 April 2023
- Enter the promotion at Solar Victoria’s stand by scanning the QR code and following the prompts.
- Confirm rebate eligibility under the Solar Homes Program.
- Accept the terms and conditions.
- Agree to be contacted via the contact details used when registering.
- Attend either of the following events:
- The Prize:
- The prize consists of a contribution of up to AUD $8,000 towards the cost of a rooftop solar (PV) installation on an eligible winner's home or investment property.
- The eligible winner can also receive a rebate of up to $1,400 under the Victorian Government's Solar Homes Program, upon successfully completing their rebate application:
- The winner is required to provide all required documentation to support the rebate application. Solar Victoria will work with the winner to assist with their application.
- The winner is required to use an Authorised Retailer to ensure the safety, performance and reliability of the system installed.
- Solar Victoria will work with the Approved Solar Retailer to assist with the transaction.
- The winner will be required to seek a minimum of three quotes from Solar Victoria's Authorised Retailer list for their solar installation.
- The Prize Draw amount and rebate amount will be deducted from the total costs of the solar installation. Depending on the size of the system, the winner may be required to pay the outstanding balance, should there be any outstanding amount after the Prize funds and rebate have been applied.
- The installation is required to be completed by 30 June 2024. If for any reason a winner does not take the prize by the date stipulated by the Promoter, the prize will be forfeited.
- The rooftop solar (PV) can be installed either on the winner's primary residence or on their investment property.
- The Prize Draw is a game of chance and winner is chosen at random from all eligible entries.
- The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and is not redeemable for cash or other prizes.
- To be eligible in the Prize Draw, entrants must meet the following eligibility criteria for the solar PV rebate of up to $1400 under the Solar Homes Program:
- Be the owner-occupier of an existing property, valued at under $3 million.
- Have a combined household taxable income of less than $180,000 per year (based on last year's Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment).
